Lead-acid and lithium batteries have distinct characteristics, requiring different charging methods and state-of-charge algorithms to ensure accurate monitoring and optimal performance.
Some lithium batteries are promoted as direct replacements for lead-acid batteries without the need for lithium-compatible equipment. However, these batteries often have a unique discharge curve that differs from both traditional lithium and lead-acid batteries.
As a result, state-of-charge algorithms that calculate using standard battery discharge curves may not provide accurate readings when used with these replacement batteries.
