ProBoost is designed to make the most of the power sources available while you travel. When the vehicle is running, ProBoost will begin charging your battery from the vehicle’s alternator to ensure reliable charging straight away.
As solar power becomes available, ProBoost automatically monitors the output from your solar panels. Once the solar input reaches a sufficient level, the system will seamlessly switch to solar charging. This allows your system to take advantage of clean, free solar energy while reducing the load on your vehicle’s alternator.
If solar output drops below the required level (for example due to cloud cover or shading), ProBoost will automatically switch back to alternator charging so your battery continues charging without interruption.
Switching thresholds:
- ProBoost25: Solar priority above 200 W
- ProBoost40: Solar priority above 350 W
When your vehicle is parked, ProBoost will charge from solar only, provided there is enough solar power available.
